Hi, I'm Jen,
I'm an independent Celebrant based in Chester, although I do travel nationwide and internationally for the couples I work with.
I love creating & delivering personalised & memorable ceremonies that are as wonderfully unique as the people they're about!
A celebrant is a professionally trained individual with the skills and experience in place to create & deliver completely bespoke and personalised ceremonies.
A celebrant has no restrictions in terms of the content, format, location or style of a ceremony as you would find with a registrar or religious ceremony and can therefore be completely personalised.
Celebrating life events should be a wonderful & joyful experience but organising them can often be stressful. I'm here to support my clients through the planning of your ceremony to ensure you have a heartfelt and memorable event.
I have a great working relationship with members of Clergy & Registrars across the UK and they freely admit that the processes they are governed by don't always meet the requirements of modern day families.
More people want the freedom of planning an event that reflects them, their style and their budget which has seen a huge increase in celebrant-led ceremonies over recent years.
From beautiful outdoor settings or unlicensed venues, to incorporating cultural, religious or family traditions, my clients really can have the celebration they've been dreaming of!
Your ceremony should be the heart of the day and the start of the celebrations; your ceremony will set the tone for the rest of the day so it's important to get it right!
A lot of clients I speak with would prefer a personalised ceremony, something different to what they've seen before; but whilst they know what they don't want, they aren't always sure what an alternative could look like either. Less formal doesn't mean less special or personal, that's where I can help.
I'm here to make all aspects of planning your ceremony as stress free as possible. Even something as simple as having more control over what time your ceremony starts can have huge positive impacts on planning the entire day!
I love working with my couples & spend months creating a ceremony that truly reflects them & their style to deliver on the day!
The truth is, with the huge commitment you're about to make & the stress of wedding planning, it's easy & common to become overwhelmed! Taking time out together on the run up and during the day is essential!
I support my clients navigate the planning & emotional transition to becoming spouses for life. You deserve for this time to be as special and enjoyable as possible!
Having a large Wedding & celebration isn't for everyone. Planning an entire wedding can feel like a daunting commitment.
Having an Elopement or a small intimate wedding can be incredibly romantic and every bit as special as a large celebration.
Vow renewals are a wonderful celebration of your life. The milestones you have accomplished together is definitely something to celebrate!
Couples who have had a vow renewal have told me that reaffirming their love to one another with their children & Grandchildren present was the most special day of their life.
A Naming Ceremony is a celebration of family and life. We all have our own story to tell and that starts with how we came to be!
This is a wonderful opportunity to officially welcome your baby into the world and to share your aspirations for their future with all of your family.
As a funeral Celebrant, I am in a very privileged position to learn the lives of departed loved ones and to share the story of their life.
From helping with music choices & readings, to navigating complex family circumstances, I support my clients through the entire process & deliver the service on the day.
So my journey to becoming a Celebrant has been lots of different aspects of my life naturally coming together.
I have a corporate background & have always been very comfortable with public speaking. I have also written ceremonies and tributes, mainly for memorial services for over 11 years.
My Husband and I both already had children when we met (that's us in the pic). Involving them in all aspects of our wedding day was very important to us.
When it came to the ceremony, I was shocked at just how restrictive the rules and regs were that we had to adhere to. Added to a very poor experience with our registrar on the actual day, I felt very strongly that there had to be another way.
In parallel, as I became more successful in my corporate role, I was spending more time away from my family; that's when I made the decision to become a Celebrant.
I can't quite put into words what it feels like to support my clients through important milestones in their life. As cheesy as it sounds, I feel like it's what I was always meant to do!
I'm a romantic at heart, but I am also a realist. Organising your event will be time consuming and costly; I truly believe that life is too short for compromise!
We are a wonderfully diverse nation, we are all unique & it's our individuality that makes us special. Celebrating our happy occasions with the people that matter most to us in the world should embrace this and reflect who we are.
I take a lot of pride in knowing that my clients really do have their day, their way no matter what the occasion!
If you have a reason to celebrate, I'd love to hear from you!
Yes, as is standard practise in many countries for a wedding, a couple will need to register their marriage to obtain their legal paperwork. You can do this at your local registrar's office at a cost of approximately £50 depending on your local area which will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
As of 2021, registrars can also attend your venue for you to sign the paperwork. Enquiries need to be made to your local council registrar's office for availability and prices.
